Live theater is back! Coos Bay Shakespeare in the Park presents free performances of “The Tempest” on Saturdays and Sundays June 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th at 3 pm at the Mingus Park Amphitheater.
Shakespeare’s tale of shipwreck, magic and love begins in a supernatural storm that tosses a group of noblemen onto a remote patch of coral. Prospero, an exiled duke, is putting into motion a clever strategy to face the enemies who banished him, regain his title, and forge new alliances to heal old wounds.
Noble folk, magical sorcerers, playful sprites, innocent young lovers, and a bitter half-fish, half-human come to life on the stage at Mingus Park on an enchanting set complete with fantastical coral and a storm-tossed shipwreck.
Bring your chairs, picnic baskets, and family to enjoy local actors on the stage at 3pm on the last two weekends in June outdoors at the Mingus Park amphitheater by the swimming pool. The entertainment is free to all! See the Coos Bay Shakespeare page on Facebook or www.coosbayshakespeare.com for details.
