The Fifth Annual Holiday Radio Show is being presented through Sunday, December 18th at the Dolphin Playhouse in Coos Bay. Call 808-2611. Showing Friday and Saturday at 7pm with Sunday showings at 2pm. Its holiday theatre done in the style of an old-fashioned radio show with live sound effects.

 

6:00 PM to 10:00 PM – A miniature village and Christmas train display is open now through December 24th at the Old Charleston School House. Call 888-3268. Over 200 miniatures representing the small towns of Coos County. The buildings may appear dark, but the lights are kept off to better see the displays.

 

4:00 PM to 9:30 PM – The Annual Holiday Lights at Shore Acres, now through December 31st, 89039 Cape Arago Highway in Charleston. Call 888-3732. 7 acre botanical gardens and Japanese lily pond. The gardens shine with over 325,000 lights. $5 parking fee per vehicle.

 


December 16th

 

10:00 AM to 9:00 PM – Christmas Story Time at the Pony Village Mall. Bringing joy to Children through reading. There will be scenes set up for selfies. Christmas Story Time will be at the mall through December 23rd.

 

6:00 PM to 9:00 PM – Live walk through Nativity Scene at the North Bend Family Worship Center. The event is open December 15 through 17th and December 22nd through 24th. The Event is free and open to anyone at 2050 Lincoln Street.

 

7:00 PM – Christmas Vacation at the Egyptian Theatre.  This is an All Age Showing with a $5.00 admission.

 

7:00 PM – A Christmas Story at the Sawdust Theatre on December 16th and 17th – Well-known for his miserly ways, Old Ebenezer Scrooge is visited on Christmas Eve by a series of ghosts, starting with his old business partner, Jacob Marley. For tickets visit sawdusttheatre.com

 


December 17th

 

1:00 PM to 3:00 PM – Meet Santa on the Coquille waterfront and enjoy the last Old Town Marketplace of the season at 250 First Street in Bandon. Shop local foods and handmade arts and crafts, grab a snack, and take a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

 

7:00 PM – The Nutcracker performed by the MarLo Dance Studio running through December 18th. Come to the Sprague Theatre in Bandon for this holiday classic. Saturdays at 7:00 PM and Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. Dancing toys, mischievous mice, waltzing flowers and more dance to Tchaikovsky’s score at the Sprague Theater. Visit marlodance.com for tickets.

December 19th

 

7:00 PM – Mr. MHS will be hosting its annual Christmas movie at the Egyptian theatre. They will be showing Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Admission is $5.00. This is a fun event for people of all ages, bring out your family to enjoy a Christmas classic and support the contestants of Mr. MHS in raising money for our community!

 


December 23rd

 

1:00 PM to 5:00 PM – Christmas Crafts, Cookies and Cheers – Bring your children ages 3-11 to our free Christmas party! Flying Chicken Tattoo, Nature’s Skin Nutrition and BJ Ice Cream in North Bend will host this event at the North Bend Community Center. The children will get to pick out a FREE gift for their mom, dad or sibling.

 


December 24th

 

10:00 AM to 1:00 PM – Whale Watching at Shore Acres State Park. Want to learn more about migrating Grey Whales. Volunteers will be there. Binoculars are available.

 

7:00 PM to 10:00 PM – The 32st Annual Candlelight Christmas Cantata at the First United Methodist Church, 123 Ocean Boulevard in Coos Bay. This is a free event with Childcare available. For more information (541) 267-4410

 


December 25th

 

6:00 AM to 6:00 PM – A Christmas Dinner at the Coquille Community Building at 940 East 5th Street. Free and open to the community. Santa Claus will be there to greet the children. Wheelchair accessible. For more information call Charli at (541) 396-5850.


 

December 31st

 

6:00 PM to 9:00 PM – Ring in the New Year at the Liberty Theatre, home of Little Theatre on the Bay. Dance to the live band Gran Torino! Tickets are $25.00 each, at www.thelibertytheatre.org. 9:00 AM – Bring in the New Year with the 29th Annual Polar Bear Plunge. Start the new year off right with swimming at Sunset Bay State Park in freezing water. Everyone is welcome.
