2016 Veterans Day Events In and Around Coos County

November 11th

The Coquille Valley Elks Lodge Number 1935 will have its annual free Veterans Day breakfast and social hour starting at 9am, with breakfast at 10:00 AM at the lodge, 54942 Maple Heights Road. Anyone with extra or worn-out flags may bring them to include in the flag retirement ceremony. This breakfast is open to all veterans and their families.

Three Rivers Casino Resort honors American veterans with a complimentary lunch in the Florence and Coos Bay locations to celebrate all active and non-active military service. The Florence location will feature a complimentary lunch at the World Market Buffet from 11:00 PM to 4:00 PM for all American veterans. Three Rivers Casino in Coos Bay will offer military veterans a hot opened-faced turkey sandwich lunch with a beverage from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The Coos Bay casino is at 1297 Ocean Boulevard. The 10th Annual Veterans Day Parade hosted by the Florence Chamber starts at 1:00 PM. The theme: “Honoring Veterans, Past and Present”. The parade runs through Old Town. Grand Marshals: Coast Guard, in honor of its 100th anniversary. Patriotic groups and individuals are welcome to participate. Veterans Day flag retirement Troop 68 will be holding an event for the community at Mingus Park on Veterans Day at 4:00 PM. They will be honorably retiring many USA flags at the request of the city of Coos Bay. This a rain or shine event. All veterans, family and friends are invited.

Operation Restore Hope documentary hosted by Q Missions. An exclusive red-carpet premiere and screening fundraiser featuring Operation Restore Hope’s mission to Mexico to build in honor of Bryan Bertrand USMC. $13 admission per person, $40 VIP at the Egyptian Theater in Coos Bay. Contact: Q Missionsinfo@qmissions.org. Q Missions is a non-profit organization giving veterans who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder a way to serve others in need. The event begins with a cocktail hour at 5:15 PM and the documentary starts at 6pm. A VIP ticket gets a viewing of the documentary, 4 comedy PSAs and a raffle ticket, custom-made gift baskets and a gift bag. Red carpet photos included. The Annual American Legion Breakfast will be held at 8:00 AM. The cost is $7.00 for adults and children under 12 are $4.00 at the American Legion Hall North Bend, 1421 Airport Way.

November 13th

Kingsview Christian School in North Bend will honor veterans with a special program and spaghetti dinner, hosted by fifth and sixth-graders from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at the Bay Area Nazarene Church, 1850 Clark Street, North Bend. The dinner will cost $5. For more information, call 541-756-1411.
