Independence Day Celebrations 2016 in Coos County

POWERS, July 1 – 4, 2016: White Cedar Days with a parade, fireworks, arts and crafts, food vendors from all over Oregon. The main event is the Loggers Shodeo, an exhibition of skill and physical endurance that’s fun for the whole family.

NORTH BEND, July 3, 2016: 9:45pm Fireworks on Coos Bay, 3201 Tremont Avenue, North Bend. Oregon’s largest fireworks display. COOS BAY, July 4, 2016: The City of Coos Bay’s annual Fourth of July celebration kicks-off its 27th year of family activities in Mingus Park on Monday, July 4th. The event provides fun, family friendly activities at little to no cost for attendees. Everyone is welcome to participate in the festivities, beginning with a run around the park and continuing with vendor booths (food, music, activities) and free swimming throughout the day: 10:00 a.m. Mayor’s Firecracker Run, sponsored by the South Coast Running Club. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. There will be a one mile kids run followed by a 4K race. | 11:00 a.m. Presentation of the flag by the Boy Scouts of America. | 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Activities, crafts, music, food and entertainment booths (as long as supplies last).  | 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Free swimming at the Mingus Park Pool. | 10:00 p.m. Fireworks over the bay at Coos Bay Boardwalk.

The most popular activities and vendors will be back this year, including:
* A children’s fishing derby (Coos Bay Volunteer Firefighter Association and the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife)
* Horse-petting and animal petting (Furry Friends)
* Face-painting (Coos Art Museum)
* Bouncy house (Jump 4 Fun!)
* Storytelling and receiving free books (Coos Bay Public Library)
* Smokey Bear (Coos Forest Protective Association)
* A show-and-tell fire truck (Coos Bay Fire Department).
* Crafts and games (Shoreline Community Church & Habitat for Humanity)
* Representatives from the Coos Bay Police Department, Bay Cities Ambulance, the Coos Bay Elks Lodge, and local Surfrider association will also be on site.

Plenty of food will be available to enjoy as well! Our local Boy Scouts of America troop will have a hamburger/hot dog booth set-up for purchasing lunch at a nominal fee, and free popcorn will be handed out. Musical entertainment will be provided by Christina Bradley – Endless. The Coquille Tribe also helped contribute to the event. The Fourth of July activities end with the annual fireworks display at dusk in downtown Coos Bay by the waterfront.
